Why Blockline Physiotherapy?

Physio Treatment is Comprehensive and Holistic Approach

At Blockline Physiotherapy, our specialists employ a range of techniques, including targeted therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, education, and other evidence-based methods. Our goal is to deliver a fast and effective rehabilitation plan tailored to address a variety of common conditions, such as:

  • Back and Neck Pain
  • Headaches
  • Spine and Joint Conditions
  • Sports and Activity Related Injuries
  • Post Surgical Rehabilitation
  • Sprains, Strains and Tendinopathy

What to expect at your first visit

Your first physiotherapy appointment starts with a conversation. Your physiotherapist will ask about your symptoms, how and when they started, what makes them better or worse, your health history and the activities you want to get back to. Next comes a physical assessment, which may include checking how you move, your strength, flexibility, balance and the specific area that is bothering you.

Once the assessment is complete, your physiotherapist will explain what they found in plain language and work with you on a treatment plan built around your goals. Treatment often begins during the first visit and may include hands-on techniques, guided exercise and education about managing your symptoms. Before you leave, you will usually receive a home exercise program so you can keep making progress between appointments. Your plan is reviewed and adjusted as you improve.

Conditions we commonly help with

  • Arthritis and joint stiffness
  • Sprains and strains
  • Recovery after surgery (see post-op rehabilitation)

Insurance and direct billing

We offer direct billing to most extended health insurance plans, so in many cases you will not need to pay up front and wait for reimbursement. Coverage differs from plan to plan, so check your benefits before your visit. You do not need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist in Ontario, although some plans require one for reimbursement. If your injury happened at work or in a car accident, see our WSIB workplace injuries and motor vehicle accident pages. Interim Federal Health Program clients can learn more on our IFHP page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can book directly with a physiotherapist in Ontario without a referral. Some insurance plans require a referral for reimbursement, so we recommend checking your plan first.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move easily and allows access to the area being treated, such as shorts for a knee problem or a tank top for a shoulder concern.

How long is a session?

Appointment length depends on whether it is your first assessment or a follow-up visit. Your therapist will confirm the timing when you book.

When should I see a doctor instead?

If you have severe trauma, chest pain, fever with back pain, numbness in the groin area or loss of bladder or bowel control, seek medical care or go to the emergency department right away.
