Why Poster Correction Physio at Blockline Physiotherapy?

Posture Correction: Align Your Body for Better Health

At Blockline Physiotherapy, our posture correction programs are designed to help you achieve optimal body alignment and reduce strain on muscles and joints. By addressing the root causes of poor posture, we enhance your comfort and prevent long-term issues. Our treatment approach commonly addresses:

  • Forward head posture and neck strain.
  • Rounded shoulders and upper back tension.
  • Lower back pain caused by poor sitting or standing habits.
  • Muscle imbalances leading to postural issues.
  • Work-related ergonomic stress and posture concerns.
  • Posture-related sports injuries or performance challenges.
  • Tailored exercises to build strength and flexibility for lasting results.

What to expect at your first visit

Your first posture correction appointment starts with a conversation about your symptoms and daily routine. Your physiotherapist will ask how you spend your day, including desk work, driving, lifting, screen time and exercise, since these habits often play a role. They will then assess your posture while standing and sitting, along with your mobility, strength and how you move.

Your physiotherapist will explain what they found and build a plan with you. Treatment may include hands-on techniques, targeted strengthening and stretching, and practical advice on your workstation setup and daily habits. Posture change takes consistent practice, so your home exercise program is an important part of care. Your plan will be adjusted as your strength and awareness improve. If you have numbness, weakness or other concerning symptoms, your physiotherapist may recommend follow-up with your doctor.

Conditions we commonly help with

  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Upper back and shoulder tension
  • Low back pain
  • Rounded shoulders and forward head posture
  • Discomfort from prolonged sitting or desk work
  • Tension-related headaches
  • Postural strain after a workplace injury (see WSIB workplace injuries)

Insurance and direct billing

We offer direct billing to most extended health insurance plans, so in many cases you will not need to pay up front and wait for reimbursement. Coverage differs from plan to plan, so check your benefits before your visit. You do not need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist in Ontario, although some plans require one for reimbursement. If your injury happened at work or in a car accident, see our WSIB workplace injuries and motor vehicle accident pages. Interim Federal Health Program clients can learn more on our IFHP page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can book directly with a physiotherapist in Ontario without a referral. Some insurance plans require a referral for reimbursement, so we recommend checking your plan first.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that lets your physiotherapist see how you stand and move, such as a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants.

Can you help with my desk setup?

Yes. Your physiotherapist can offer practical suggestions for your chair, screen and work habits to help reduce strain.

How long is a session?

Session length depends on your appointment type. Your therapist will confirm the timing when you book.
